Meet LaToya

LaToya Shavon Mason is a multi-talented individual with a rich and diverse background. Born in Whiteville, N.C. in 1980, she excelled during her high school years as both a JV and Varsity cheerleader, as well as a track athlete in Columbus County. After graduating in 1999, she pursued higher education to create a better future for herself.

La Toya is not only a published author but has achieved significant success with her books, which have become Amazon’s Best Sellers and number one new releases. She balances her professional life with being a devoted mother and grandmother. With over 23 years of experience in the healthcare field, she currently dedicates herself to working with children and patients.

In 2017, La Toya founded Crown Me Different, a nonprofit organization based in Raleigh, N.C. This organization focuses on supporting young children and women who have experienced or are currently dealing with trauma. Under her leadership, Crown Me Different has developed a mentorship group and hosts an annual Women’s Empowerment Conference, now in its eighth year. La Toya's passion for helping others extends to her role as a motivational speaker, where she shares her experiences and insights at various conferences.

Entrepreneurship is another facet of La Toya's endeavors. She is the CEO of Crowned Different Boutique LLC and also runs a successful lip gloss business called Kissed By La Toya/Ar’Mani Lipgloss. Her faith is central to her life, as she firmly stands on Proverbs 3 verses 5&6, identifying as a Christian who attributes her strength and success to God.
